Well balanced amber ales are a thing of real beauty and simplicity. A mainstay of the UK beer scene. Things changed some 10 years or so ago with an influx of new world hops and perhaps different ways of thinking about brewing. This beer is a nod to that first wave of craft brewing influence in the UK.

Malty body with toasty and toffee flavours to the fore. We used a clean yeast strain and only kettle hops to ensure sophisticated integration of flavour. Centennial and Motueka bring resinous pine and citrus before a long but perfectly balanced finish.

(Draught at Mother Kelly's, Bethnal Green, London, 22 Nov 2019) Reddish amber colour with foamy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of caramel, red fruit, treacle-toffee and crisp-bread. Malty taste with caramel, toffee, crisp-bread, orange peel and a mild citric bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Well made and balanced. Quite nice.

Keg at MK VHX, 13/11/19. Amber pour with a decent faded beige cap. Nose is mellow fruit rinds, toffee, brown bread, sugar dusting. Taste comprises caramel, fruit slice, brown sugar, dried fruits. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with light hop bitterness. Decent for the style.
