On tap at Capitol City Downtown. Clear copper with small beige head. Aroma is caramel malt, medium body, low carbonation, and some small-bubble lacing. Taste is nice rich caramel malt.

Draught at the brewpub. Weak malty aroma. Clear dark amber colour. No head to speak of. The flavour is dark malty, sweetish with a vinous touch. Slightly spicy. Well-made.

Sampled on draft at the brewpub, Shirlington location. Pours a clear copper color with a medium creamy head. Excellent head retention and lacing. Aroma is fairly faint with notes of toasted malts and caramel. Taste is caramel, nuts, lightly toasted malts and a slightly bitter, leafy hop finish. Medium bodied. A very well made marzen.

On tap. Pours a amber color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet malts, touches of grain. Pretty on target in the realm of Oktoberfest beers. Flavor is malty, tinge of hop character.

Had a pint of this on tap at the 11th street location in Washington D.C. My girlfriend was drinking a pint of their Amber Waves and I couldn’t SEE a difference in terms of appearance. Transparent, copper, orange with a thin white head. Aroma is very mild, some light fruit, some mild grain. Flavor is the same, some caramel and cracker. Watery finish. There are better items on tap, pass on this unless you’re feeling festive.

Amber color. Simple aroma and flavor, just caramel. Quite bold bitterness. Regular.
