500ml bottle from Rheged Deli. Gluten Free. Clear golden colour, big bubbly white foamy head and aroma of malt, grains, earthy, citrus. Taste is malty, grain, fruity, blackcurrant, with some citric hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft foamy carbonation, dry tangy bitter finish. Quite OK

Bottle from British Local Craft. Some vague citrus in the nose along with yeast and maybe a hint of ginger. Pours a golden yellow with a small white head and good lacing. Pleasant and creamy in the mouth. Flavour is a touch of lemon with butter and caramel. Finish is more profoundly bitter – hops starting to come through properly. It’s pretty much a standard golden ale.

Bottle from Rheged. Appearance - golden with a thin head. Nose - loads of caramel. Missing any citrus here. Taste - caramel again and again. Palate - light bodied with a creamy texture and a finish that could be fresher. Overall - not really true to the golden ale style. Probably more of a mild in reality.

Bottle. Morrison’s. Clear gold. Thin, messy, semi lacing, white head. Nose has burnt butter. Vegetable water. Privet leaf. Taste is super bitter and grassy, with a hint of buttery sweetness. Light to medium body. Quite oily. Fine to medium carbonation level. Privet leaf bitterness on the finish lasts an age. It ain’t short of hops, I’ll give it that.
