A lightly hazed reddish brown ale with a thin lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with dark fruits, candy sugar, light vanilla and bourbon, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with dark fruits, bourbon barrel notes , alcohol warmth, very nice and complex. On tap at brewery.

On tap at Avant-Garde, pours a deep dark chestnut brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subtle bourbon, lots of booze, toasted nuts, brown sugar, and dark fruits. Flavour is boozy, with lots of bourbon that mixes with dark fruits, molasses, caramelized brown sugar, and alcohol. It's not at the level of a Trappist quad, even a BA one (like one of La Trappe's). The base beer I wasn't too impressed with, but this BA version is better, despite how hot and boozy it is. Good, but not an upper tier quad.
