Sampled at the brewpub. Pours a watery, opaque black with a thin, beige head. Nose of dark chocolate, light toasted malts, a little yeast. Flavor of chocolate, toasted bread, coffee grounds, brown sugar. Finish is medium bodied and dry. Definitely more of a Belgian, or Euro-style stout.

Draught, 7.5% at the brewpub. Good roasted aroma, hint of raw liquorice. Black colour, seems unclear. The flavour is nicely roasted. OK sweetness. Good roasted barley bitterness in the finish.

Sampled on draft at Zeno’s in State College PA this beer poured a black color with a small beige head. The aroma was somewhat fruity port wine adn a touch roasty - odd but pleasant. The flavor was bitter, woody and roasty with a sherry undertone. The finish was long, dry, roasty and woody. A bit thin in body. Ok.
