Sample from bottle @ Antidoot opening weekend. Thanks Raf! Beautiful dark red/ruby colour, thin layer of foam. Nose of grapes, red wine, wood, tannins. Some fruity berry hints, lots of funk. Very nice lambic!

Bottle At grote dorst. Pours deep red. Aroma is sour, sweet, grapes. Flavor is sour, vinous, massive grapes, dryness, tannins. Finish is dry and tanniny with warming alcohol. Overall: very good, but too much wine-y to me.

75cl bottle at In de Verzekering tegen de Grote Dorst, pours a mostly clear purple with zero head. Big red grape nose, cherries too, neutral oak, floral, some raspberry too. Flavor is nice, very subtle, light funk, light lemon, red grape, plenty of dark fruits, light oak. Finishes tannic but medium bodied. Very good. 8 5 8 5 15 My father in law refused to believe this was beer. He swore it was red wine.

Grape lambic by Bokkereyder made with a ‘mélange’ of four different grape varieties, namely Pinot Noir, Domfelder, Cabernet and Regent; 75 cl bottle at Foeders during Carnivale Brettanomyces. Beautifully pale lilac-hued, moussy head, quickly settling as a thing ring around a hazy, deep purplish wine red coloured beer. Aroma of a sweeter, rounded, full-bodied burgundy wine but equally laden with pure and fresh unfermented blue grape juice, hints of grape skins and seeds, old lemon peel, sour yoghurt, black cherries, grapeseed oil, sweet tomatoes, some light sweatiness, wet wood. Grape juice generously fills the onset to the brim, tart with notable grape skin wryness, but with a condense, ripe blue grape or indeed even cherry-like sweetishness hidden within: the tartness is however accentuated by lemony fruit and lambic acidity, merging with the lactic tartness that dominates the middle. Smooth mouthfeel, bit vinous with finely tingling, lambrusco-like carbo, leading to a dry, complex finish, wine-like but equally grape juice-like, strong tannins from wood, seeds and grape skins, cava-like notes in the finish with mild lambic ‘funkiness’. Delicious grape lambic, full and lush like all Bokkereyder’s highly acclaimed fruit lambics, but like most of the other ones, more fruit juice-like (in a highly delicious and concentrated form) than deeply lambic-like, though the lambic certainly forms a solid underground for so much wine-like ‘purple fruitiness’ here. As I stated before, Bokkereyder may be a huge hype among lambic lovers internationally, but so far none of them was less than sublime to me and as far as I am concerned, the hype is fully deserved.

Looks like red wine. Aroma and flavour are intense with strong fruity red wine. Leaves a nice citric sourness on the lips. Misses some body and richness but very nice.

Grapes, red wine, tannins, berries, lambic funk, sour cherries. Quite complex, more so than a red wine. 4.3
