On draught at the brewery, 8/11/16.
Dark bronze body shows a good clarity and a small, but fairly well-retained, off-white head.
Once again, upon reading the description, I’m very hesitant to try the beer and am completely shocked at just how well it’s done....Mint is spicy and vegetal in the nose, while an ample, honey-like maltiness balances and adds substance. Both lime and cucumber (less so the cucumber) are notable in the nose, as well, and neither are overdone. Zesty lime acidity is controlled and adds bright citrus fruit notes, helping to further balance the strong maltiness. Only a touch of cucumber in the nose, but it’s crisp and refreshing adding pleasant vegetal notes in concert with the mint. No alcohol or flaw.
Even better is the flavor, with soft, sweet, succulent malts immediately adding a good base for the adjuncts to play about on. The mint and lime add spice and acidity, while the cucumber emerges on the finish, adding a clean, mineral/herbal character that is incredibly refreshing and bright. They’ve somehow managed to balance the beer nearly perfectly, with none of the adjuncts coming off fake/cheap or overdone. Impressive.
