Draught at Meadhall, 7/28/16.
Pours a chill-hazed, brass-golden with a hint of copper. Large white head atop is rocky and shows moderate retention.
Traditional hops in the nose, with maybe some experimental mandarina/hull, though it’s tough to tell. There’s more of a lush, greenery and very light juiciness that I associate with the newer hops; light citrus suggestions, but otherwise plenty of grass, pepper and fresh herbs. The rye is light in the nose, and is backed by light honey-caramel "sweetness". Clean, with good minerality and no alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth it is well-attenuated but still quite malty, with good honey sweetness and a soft texture at points, leading to a crisp, well-hopped finish replete with pepper, herbs, grass and a hint of tangerine-lemon. Good levity overall, but still substantial. Seems quite a bit like Beer Geek Helles but with less focus on the hops and obviously adding rye (though the rye doesnt come through that strongly).
