Draught at 5 Horse Tavern, Somerville, 5/15/16.
Hesitant to post this review especially given the other ratings, but I can only go with what I experienced and sadly this thing was very near undrinkable. Light amber-golden with a moderate haziness and a small white head that quickly receded.
Peachy-pineapple in the nose is fairly juicy and bright but succumbs quickly to moderate caramel, sourdough and pine resin on the end. Definitely dampens the perceived bright notes and comes off just a bit too malty. No alcohol or flaw noted.
The flavor suffers the most, with a huge sourdough-meets-spoiled-peach character. Resin-like pine and grapefruit add too much bitterness and a rather sluggish caramel character lasts on the finish. Low, rather loose carbonation is not able to add any levity to the texture and lots of stewed hop resin lingers as well.
Don’t know what happened here, maybe the very bottom of the keg and lots of yeast got mixed in? Not sure. Love Deciduous and will certainly rerate it at next opportunity.

Growler filled at The brewery 3 days ago. Hazy golden color that showed a thin ring around the snifter. Aroma is really nice; tropical fruits, mild grapefruit zest and mild peach hints. Tempting indeed

My favorite aspect of this brew is the juicy texture. The center of this beer is just bursting with fruit flavors. Mild tropical hints that end in a grapefruit peel / zest. The malt bill gives sweetness but the myriad of hop varieties still gives this a hop punch. The balance is quite nice, neither overly hoppy or overly sweet. It’s actually refreshing to have an imperial IPA that isn’t so bitter that it causes palate fatigue.

The 8 % is not found in the sip and it drinks more like a 6 or 6.5 percent brew. As it warms to room temperature, the bitterness increases and gives it a slightly stronger hop slap. Honestly, if your reading this review, do yourself a favor. Get in your car and drive to the brewery and judge for yourself. I finished the 750 ml growler very easily. I tried to find a flaw and couldn’t.
