Dark mahogany with some tar-like tints and a good clarity, with a beige head showing average retention.
Nice mix of freshly baked pumpernickel, with tons of wheat character, light caramel and a dusting of black pepper. Doesn’t go too deep on the saison qualities, but there is some light fruit (apples, cherries) and a touch of mineral and earth. No alcohol or flaw.
Sweet and sticky at first, with hazelnut, dry caramel, brown bread and light honey. Soft, gentle carbonation with light earthiness and bits and pieces of ester and pepper (apple, cherry, strawberry, black pepper). Dries out lightly on the end with bread and light spice lingering. Drinkable, perhaps a bit too much caramel but just enough belgian characteristics come through to keep your attention.
