Fresh rusty-sunset orange with ample carbonation and a large, off-white head that shows moderate retention.
Mango skin, light caramel, white pepper and other various esters (light banana and apple, among them) show a fairly straightforward nose for CBC’s house Belgian yeast. Hops add a strong spicy character but are otherwise fairly minimal while there is no alcohol or flaw.
A bit softer/maltier than some of their saisons of late. Kind of reminds me of a slightly sweeter version of the base beer to Sgt. Pepper. Some earthy, lightly biscuity characteristics balance sweet honey and very light caramel. Spicy hops and rye keep things interesting and there is a plethora of pepper and fruit on the finish.
