Draught at the brewery, Summer 2013.
Light bronze-golden body is lightly hazy and reveals a small, white head with moderate retention.
Very grassy, floral, herbal, all sorts of pepper phenols and a good dose of bready specialty malts and a touch of toasted character. It’s quite fruity as well, and all this adds up to a lot going on, including some tropical fruit notes garnered from the interplay of toasted malt and ester, but the base malt is very sparse, heavily attenuated and this shows up mostly in the mouth where the beer, while very dry, is given to a bit of huskiness due to the relative focus on the naturally huskier/grainier canadian malt, dry wheat and spicy, dry rye malt. Lots of grassiness as well. Does get a touch softer with warming, but the malts continue to show a bit more prominently than I’d like.
