Reviewed from notes.
Can to nonic glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black with a two finger khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: dark roasted malts, black coffee, milk chocolate, dark chocolate with earthy and piney hops
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas to swee to roasty and bitter character; finishes roasty and piney hoppy
Texture: medium bodied, sessionable, some hop assertiveness, lighter smoothness than a good amount of other stouts I've had
Overall: almost thought this was a black IPA I had to go back through several times to ensure I was drinking a stout but yes, ultimately this is a stout just a hoppier one than a good amount of others I've had.

Can (12/21/22) pour from Andover Classic Wines. Opaque dark brown with tons of sparkle, nice head with fair retention and light lacing. Aroma is strong earthy roasted malt, baker's chocolate, coffee, hint of molasses and pine. Taste follows aroma. Creamy, frothy texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Quite a bit going on here. Very good non-adjuncted, plain Jane stout.

Pours a near black from a tap with a khaki colored head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, almost molasses-y texture. A bit of leather and even worcestershire sauce. Very good beer.

Guest Tap at Night Shift. Nice looking pour. Thick full tan head on a pitch black liquid. Aroma is strong in deep roasted grains giving off coffee, ash and chocolate.
My favorite character of this beer is the fuller body for the gravity. Fuller, more dense mouthfeel and clout body. Deep lingering roast. Nice stout on a rainy New England afternoon. Tasty!

Bottle at Bukowski’s Tavern, 12/1/15
Dark, probably nearly opaque ebony with a small, moderately-well retained, tan head.
Chocolate, dry toffee, prunes and a light dusting of floral and light citrus hop aromatics. Even coffee notes with light prunes and raisins. No alcohol or flaws.
Moderately chewy texture is pleasing, with dark chocolate notes aplenty and light sweetness lingering. Mostly dry, with a great attenuation, plentiful bitter roast and lots of salted toffee and prune character. Light grapefruit and just a touch of pine, but no resin whatsoever, from the hops. No alcohol, no flaws. Great stuff, just like Snake Eyes. I really need to try Silk, if there’s still any to be found. Just a flavorful, really nicely executed, not-overdone stout.
