Draught at the brewery, 2/4/17.
A very pale, beeswax golden-colored beer at first thoroughly confuses the senses. This is an old ale? But I suppose they are going for some type of Stock ale, though I’m still surprised it’s all pale malt. Anyways, clarity is high with a light beige head atop showing moderate retention.
In the nose there are light acetic qualities with cellar-like mustiness mixing with light grass, pepper and tons of honey and caramel. Alcohol is pretty relaxed.
In the mouth, there is more of the light sourness which adds cherry pie-like character and light acetic notes. Honey, hints of aged white wine and light caramel on the finish with more cellar-like mustiness and light funk. I guess it kind of works in spite of itself? Hard to know if this was the intended outcome. Medium bodied, light grass and vegetal character, pretty well concealed on the alcohol.
