Draught at the brewery, 2/4/17.
Dark mahogany-to-ebony body shows good clarity and a tan head atop with moderate retention.
Cocoa, treacle, strong roast and light vanilla rise up with a good dose of alcohol, prune and other strong, sharp ester, on the finish.
Alcohol is rather rampant, though perhaps not as bad as in the Dorchestivus. Lots of tar, cocoa powder and strong ashiness with, again, an undermalted body and loose carbonation. Sticky caramel gives only a slight taste of sweetness and balance while the alcohol and ashy roast ruin the finish.
