Draught at the brewery, 11/12/16.
Deep bronze-amber with a glassy clarity and an off-white head atop showing moderate retention.
Plethora of hop notes in the nose range from spicy/sprucey pine, to candied orange rind, to nectarine and papaya. A bit of specialty malt it seems, adding a light iced tea-like character, though maybe that’s just the earthiness from the pumpkin? I don’t know. Certainly completely fermented out are the pumpkins, and they’re really just there in spirit. Light grapefruit finishes the beer, with soft honey and biscuit backing it and no alcohol or flaw.
Peppery, earthy and lightly vegetal at first, it takes a while for the more fruity and juicy hops to catch up. Moderate bitterness, some heat and/or resin from the C hops. Dry, with only a touch of honey, though the texture is still fairly soft/chewy at points from the rye. Tight carbonation and no pumpkin to be found. Could use a bit more maltiness and ease off on the C Hops.
