Draught at Earth Eagle, 10/23/16.
Dark, greyish-amber with chestnut tones and a light haziness. Beige head atop shows moderate retention.
Big fruity/spicy rye notes in the nose are backed by vanilla-honey maltiness with light cola and even some chocolate character. Earthy, almost woody rye notes balance the malt sugars and there’s a touch of lemon-lime and woody, green character from the amarillo. Fresh yeast and minerality and very light coffee notes lingering.
Soft, chewy body is quite dry and features vanilla and light chocolate malt notes. Fruitiness builds up while lightly bitter hop notes mix with the rye, as well, adding more woody, bready notes. Gentle acidity and very subtle coffee notes on the finish, with no alcohol or flaw. Low but mostly engaging carbonation. Cool beer, seems legit.
