Bottle from the September DC RB Tasting. Poured a clear, dark orange copper color with a small off-white head. Aroma was toffee, light grape. Touch of bourbon. Flavor was similar, light sweet toffee notes. Touch of bourbon sweetness. Maple. Warming finish, but not overly hot.

Draught at the brewery, 3/25/18.
Light amber-to-auburn, touch of chill haze. No head.
Smells richly malty with very low barrel character, which is surprising given it was solely fermented in one. Surprised it's even bourbon. Light maple hints, tons of honey-caramel-like malt. Not boozy or sharp/estery at all. Lots of red fruit and soft ester, though.
In the mouth it's awesomely dry, yet still richly malty with no booze, nor any excess specialty malt. Clean fermentation even in the barrel, showing moderately estery fruits, a hint of spice and very soft wood tannin. Impressive that it's 14%; it doesn't show remotely close to that. Soft, slick-at-times texture with low but engaging carbonation.
