The sixth iteration in our Life In Technicolor series, this beer screams grapefruit! We brewed this beer with a soft malt base consisting of a large amount of wheat and flaked wheat to help provide a round mouthfeel and body. Over 10 lbs per barrel of grapefruit zest and juice were added for a refreshing citrusy flavor. Hopped with a blend of citrus forward hops to help accentuate the grapefruit, It’s akin to juice. We know the combo of grapefruit and IPAs have been done before but that’s because it works so damn well.

Draught at the brewery, 3/25/18.
Bright orange-tangerine-honey, moderately hazy with an off-white head that settles at cover.
Yeasty with dough and heavy ester followed by orange oil and tons of zest. Not that the grapefruit feels overdone, but the hops seem very underdone. Really haven't been a fan of actual citrus in IPAs, it never seems to augment/complement, but just detract and obscure the hops. No alcohol, at least. Biscuity, cracker-like malts behind it.
Yeasty and/or doughy in the mouth. Heavy, heavy dough through the middle. Tons of orange oil, as if the beer sat on the skin/rind too long. Hops seem an afterthought, as they do in the nose. On the plus side, the texture/carbonation/attenuation is near-perfect, yet again.

5 oz. draft at the source. Cloudy orange color. Aroma is grapefruit peel, citrus, and peppery zest. Flavor is dominated by citrus. (Mostly grapefruit) bitterness is mild. Good amount of juice without overwhelming the brew.
