Draught at Mule Bar, 3/24/18.
Lightly hazy, brass-golden. White head fades steadily to ring.
Soft coconut, nicely mild and in the background mixes with easygoing Belgian esters providing nectarine, apple and pear. Low on the phenolics, and though I like a nice helping of black pepper phenol, I'll take the tradeoff of it being clove-free any day. Lightly sweet, honey-caramel-tinged malts with a touch of biscuit, no alcohol or flaw.
Coconut again in the mouth is up-front, but again, not dominant or intense. Light pineapple, hints of clove and white pepper emerge quickly and lemon and light honey-like malt notes are added as it progresses towards a soft, gentle finish with mostly dough and biscuit-like malt lingering with soft coconut and light lemon. Kind of light on the saison character, though still a well-made beer, with light carbonation, engaging and a reasonably soft texture. All told, this could be FAR worse. I shudder to thing of the bad adjunct saisons I've had, and this is far from bad or even slightly overdone.

16 oz. draft at Big Fatty’s BBQ. Cloudy golden appearance. Aroma shows moderate coconut, some fruity yeast, straw. The flavor is a mirror of the aroma. The coconut is noticed though the sip. Kind of overruns the yeast. Body is light with a toasted coconut finish. If you like coconut water, this is your “saison”.
