Draught at Eventide, Fenway, 3/2/18.
Clear, soft-hued, white grape-to-golden. Tons of carbonation and a smell, dense, white head showing moderate retention.
Mild, fresh, thyme-oregano-like herbal notes are dainty and pleasing. Light pepper phenols, plastery/mineral-like yeast with mild pear and apple ester on the end. Using the word "mild" a lot not by accident. This stuff is soft, clean, well-lagered and aromatic but there's no rough edges, overly bitter, phenolic or estery character whatsoever. Just softness and bright pepper and herbs for days.
Oh hell ya! First sip and I'm in love. Black pepper phenol and mineral-rich yeast galore. Perfect, supple, yet dry texture with engaging, tight carbonation. Soft, supple rye contributing more body without additional sweetness or strength. Like a less hoppy, less malty-sweet Dupont. All soft phenols, esters and nicely attenuated pils malt. Lightly bitter, fresh herbal hops complete the picture, on the finish and balance perfectly. Clean, crisp, refreshing, amazing.
