Draught at the brewery, 12/10/17.
Lighter mahogany to chestnut with strong maize tints. Clear, beige head recedes quickly to ring.
Sourdough, lightly nutty notes and basic brown bread notes are neither rich nor particularly enjoyable. But it's clean. Little no hops nor alcohol.
Dry, thin and with too much specialty malt and not enough base malt, it comes off husky, astringent/sour and not particularly drinkable. Bread, cola and nuts with more sour, heavily toasted malt character linger. Thin and with low, lightly engaging carbonation.

Taster at the source pours a nice dark brown with a nice creamy off white head. Aromas of light roast caramel bread and chocolate. Taste is toffee, dark fruit, medium body not too sweet but well balanced.

Taster pour at NH Brewfest. Appearance is dark brown, with finger width creamy off-white head, light lacing. Aroma is toast/light roast, caramel, hit of licorice. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, light vanilla. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with average carbonation and sweet finish as taste. Overall, this was really tasty--I very much enjoyed it.

Draft at New England’s Tap house and Grill. Standard shaker glass shows a dee in color mahogany. Aroma is Munch malt, weak chocolate aroma with hints of dark bread.
Deep malty grainy base. Caramel, hints of chocolate with grainy texture giving a deep earthy character. The moderate sweet and bitter flavor gives this brew a great balance. Had I not known this was brewed in NH, I would have said this brewed in Germany. Awesome grain bill. The brewer does a wonderful job with this style.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Tan head with medium retention recedes to nothing. Fruity brown bread aromas. Dry with cocoa and pumpernickel front to back. Lasting dusty cocoa finish.
