Draught at the brewery, 7/14/17.
Dark ebony of undetermined clarity with a light tan head atop showing strong retention.
Proper balance of both base malt and roasted creating both caramel, coffee and light vanilla notes. The smoke is light and runs underneath adding a light charred character on the back end. No alcohol whatsoever and light vinous notes (running a touch sharp, however). Caramel, treacle, toffee and prune linger with the light charred character adding more complexity.
Soft and malty with a solid sweetness to balance the roasted character, as in the nose. Fruity and yet full of milk chocolate and caramel with salty char sitting enjoyably on the finish alongside light vinousness and a touch of warmth from the alcohol. Low but tight carbonation and a very rich, but amply attenuated and still drinkable Imperial Stout.
