Can drunk 6/30/17.
Brassy-golden with very light amber hues and a medium-sized, white head showing moderate retention.
Fruity with a good deal of citrus, in the nose. Not going to lie, it smells quite a bit like a hoppy pale ale though at least there’s nothing off or crude here. No banana, bubble gum, that sort of thing and even the Azacca which I’ve found are very prone to being overly twangy and acidic, seem fairly relaxed. But it’s still a hop-dominated aroma which allows for very little nuance from the yeast. No alcohol or flaw.
Good attenuation and a fairly soft, malty texture with plentiful lime, pineapple, nectarine, kumquat and tangerine hop notes. Some wheat and/or biscuit-like character contributes to the texture with light earthy and faint peppery notes on the end. Esters don’t break through the wall of hops and to that end, this is certainly no real saison. But it’s a well-made, enjoyable beer with rounded edges and restraint on any potential resinous character from the Azacca.
