Draught at 3 Tides, 6/17/17.
Light amber with copper-golden hues, high clarity and a medium-sized, off-white head atop showing moderate to moderately-strong retention.
Fresh, grainy, lightly bready nose reminds of freshly-baked sourdough. There’s plenty of base malt "softness" to it, however; it’s not all specialty malt and melanoidin-like acidity. Soft fruit esters caress the nose, as well, displaying strawberry and apple prominently which works nicely with the malt. Pepper and grass from the hops sit in the background as the beer is mainly a product of malt and yeast. Clean and obviously no alcohol apparent.
Malty and well-attenuated and with a shockingly soft, supple texture that displays none of the astringency or huskiness one might expect from excess grain tannin being exposed. While it is certainly light and refreshing, with a grainy, bready, lightly fruity, crisp finish, it still drinks like a "normal" beer. Not thin or watery in the least. Superb balance with lovely hay, pepper and grass lingering amidst the fruity esters, on the finish. Impressive stuff.
