2018 bottle shared by Stacey, via Chris on 2/1/19. Thanks, guys!
Clear, bronze-amber with a small, modest, off-white head.
Smells of bourbon just to the point it should with no excess toasted oak. Doesn't smell like a pina colada and the malt shows a good balance of the base mixed in creating honey and other notes that don't leave the beer as a caramel bomb. Alcohol is well-concealed and the beer is clean and aromatic.
In the mouth it's exquisitely soft and supple with tight, engaging, low carbonation and a great balance of barrel/bourbon and malt. Honey, vanilla, light caramel-toffee and interesting pepper, cola, spice and mild wood all create plentiful flavor without excess. Alcohol is concealed and the beer feels well-aged and clean. A really nice balance achieved for those who like bourbon and wood without overdoing it, leaving plentiful malt character for those who don't.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Tan head with little retention bubbles and recedes to hug rim. Dark bourbon aromas. Soft with creamy vanilla and caramel covered golden raisins upfront turning to dry oak in the lasting bourbon burn.

6 oz. half pour at the brewery. Muddy brown color. Aroma is subtle bourbon, oak, brown sugar. Flavor is amazingly smooth for 10.7. Just a subtle warming after the sip. Prunes, raisins, and brown sugar backbone. This is a home run, clear the bases!
