Brewed in collaboration with our friends at Lasting Brass in February 2018. A base of barley and spelt from Valley Malt (Hadley, MA) was fermented with a combination of both breweries’ house cultures. After fermentation in stainless and a period of oak-aging, we added black currants from Maple Lane Farm (Preston, CT) and blackberries. Naturally re-fermented and carbonated in the bottle.

Draft at Row34, 1/12/19. Moderately hazy, bright burgundy with a cranberry-colored head showing strong retention. Tart and juicy with cran-raspberry notes and deep mineral notes. Good oak, not too strong, all leading to a really gentle but aromatic, sour that doesnt seem too sour. Red wine and a touch of chalk with no alcohol or flaw. Bright currant and cranberry-like notes really open the eyes but the acidity doesn't overpower. Juicy and with plentiful oak and wine yet not overdone and it's well-attenuated. Soft and malty. Acidity is primarily fruit-driven but there's light lactic and Brett behind it. Quite a lot going on and a great texture. Maybe just a bit too much oak and fruit but it's no doubt young and should really age nicely. Would love to get my hands on a bottle of this.
