Draught at Lulu's, 9/9/18.
Dark blueberry-violet milkshake-looking color, as promised. Blueberry-tinted, pink head shows pretty good retention.
Piney hops are dankish, fresh and provide light papaya-mango, though this could be mostly yeast-induced. Blueberry skin and lactose provide light tartness, with spicy/seedy/peppery notes on the finish. No sweetness to the nose, nor juiciness, but still quite authentic in the fruit category with no overdone/resinous IPA characteristics. No alcohol or flaw noted.
In the mouth, it's surprisingly juicy, given the relatively tame/dryish nose. Sweet malts mix with lactose but it never gets too sweet, of course. Low bitterness throughout though some light blueberry tartness/spiciness helps add balance, as does the green, leafy, dank hop character. Quite nice and interesting and very good at capturing the essence of the blueberry. Sweetness does taper off nicely, on the finish.
