Ecstatic Narcosis is the next offering in our Wizard line of Vermont-influenced India Pale Ales, featuring Centennial, Amarillo and Motueka hops. Unlike a lot of modern hazy/juicy IPAs, the beers in this series exhibit traditional American hop profiles of pine, citrus, and dank herbs coupled with a sometimes catty bite. The addition of malted wheat and flaked oats softens the body a bit, while a firm hand of resinous hops provides balance and a clean finish.

Can from the brewery, drunk 5/24/22. Pours a lightly hazy, bright marigold-brass with a small, white head showing low-to-moderate retention. Nose is light pine with mineral earth, spicy, dank notes and light peach-melon. Soft, lightly succulent, honey-like malts and a touch of biscuit support it, with no weird yeast, booze or flaw. Soft and malty, well-attenuated with tropical fruits, peach, pear, apple and spicy pine. Good bitterness, but still nicely balanced without too much resin/acidity. Lingering melon, spicy pine and mineral-heavy Motueka are lovely.
