An effervescent Saison aged in Brettanomyces-inoculated French Oak barrels with fresh cranberries grown at Stone Bridge Farm (Acushnet, MA). Gentle tartness is complemented by an earthy funk, subtle notes of nutmeg and clove, and a bone-dry finish. Drink fresh or cellar.

375mL bottled November, 2021, drunk 5/4/22. Big cranberry and moderate lactic acidity in the nose with good malt character behind it (honey, biscuit, dough). Not too heavy on the phenolic character, and to that effect, the saison properties are mostly obscured by souring bacteria and fruit here. Little/no alcohol noted, no flaw. Soft and very malty in the mouth with good attenuation and a very strong, lightly sharp cranberry and lactic character. It's a bit perfumey, borderline astringent at times, especially with the excessive alcohol here adding to that effect. But the softness/depth of malt carries here and I finish the bottle pretty easily with quite some enjoyment. I wish there was a little more fruitiness/juiciness to the cranberry, but it's six months old and cranberries aren't exactly known for their juicy fruitiness. All-in-all, an incredibly ambitious beer and they've done pretty well with it.
