Central Square is an experimental beer with prominent notes of dried fruit and a subtle richness. Intending to achieve delicate harmony between body and tartness, we blended several unique projects from our cellars, including a Brett. fermented beer aged on Balaton cherries, a bourbon-barrel aged Porter, a Wild Ale aged in French oak, and a Belgian-style Quadrupel Ale. Together, they form a silky, tangy, and undeniably complex sour.

Broadway draught, 4/30/22. Lightly cloudy, milk chocolate with auburn hues on the edges. Beige head immediately hugs the edges. Lightly roasty with some strong lactic overtones and moderate Brett lightening things up a bit. Not a ton of cherry but it's there in the background. Pretty standard dark sour with good balance for the most part. I get a bit of alcohol but not too bad for its size. Sweeter and maltier than expected. Soft, good attenuation. Caramel, chocolate, roast don't overwhelm. Still wouldn't know there's cherry but that's fine. Hmmm, I don't remember Lamplighters barrel sours being this good. Pleasant surprise.
