Our relationship with Row34 extends back to its opening in 2013. Located on the same block as our original Congress Street brewery and retail space, they quickly became a de-facto tasting room for Trillium. Unable to offer guests pours or even samples of our beer, we'd direct guests next door to enjoy Trillium on draft alongside a flight of oysters or their incredible Warm Buttered Lobster Roll.
For our second collaboration together, we landed on a style that both our team and Suzanne Hayes, Beer Director at Row34, have a huge admiration for - traditional Belgian Saisons that incorporate local ingredients. Both of our organizations are focused on supporting local farm and food systems. As founding members of the Northeast Grainshed, it was important to us that this collaboration highlight local grain.
We brewed this special beer with a grist bill consisting of 100% Valley Malt, hopped it with beautiful Czech Saaz, and allowed it to ferment with a blend of both Belgian and French Saison yeast strains. After enjoying extended periods of bottle refermentation and then cold conditioning, Saison du Row is now ready to be enjoyed.
Pouring a bright straw yellow with a touch of haze, lively carbonation, and beautifully rocky head, Saison du Row is elegant in its appearance. The bouquet of aromas is nuanced, featuring notes of white pepper, clove, lemonade, and a touch of fresh-baled hay. On the palate, we're greeted with secondary notes of black tea, bubblegum, and a gentle floral character. Pleasantly dry, with a cleansing carbonation and gentle bitterness, Saison du Row is built for sipping alongside fresh seafood.

Split with my lady friend. Golden pour fairly solid coloration and puffy white head. Nose is florals and hay and some citrus. Tatses of hay, lemon zest, peppery, floral, hint of hair spray. Lively palate. Quite enjoyed

Bottle from my brother: pours gold with big head. Aroma is funky, sort of vegetal, some flowers and lemona. Taste is lightly funky, barely tart. Plenty of spice. Some wood and plant matter. Funky aftertaste.

330ml bottle from Canton brewery. Honey gold color. Rocky white head. Aroma of fresh hay, bready malt, white pepper and lemon peel. First sip is sweet citrus and honey. Follow up notes of earthy yeast, rustic bread and bubblegum. Dry and bitter on the backend. Wonderfully complex and smooth.

Undated bottle drunk 8/30/21.
Good clarity with a warm-toned, honey-maize color and large, fluffy-to-rocky, white head showing good retention.
Strong honey, black pepper and sugar cookie in the nose is complemented by earthy and spicy hops. Yeast is strong but fairly elegant and free from clove, most importantly (and bubble gum/banana to a lesser extent). No alcohol or flaw noted.
Soft and malty with good attenuation and residual honey and sugar cookie notes atop a lemon-pepper acidity with hints of bubble gum and plentiful minerality. I like the decision to keep it all Saccharomyces and it's a faithful rendition of a classic saison. None of the unwanted ester/phenol, good dryness, soft texture and engaging, tight carbonation with no alcohol or overhopping.

500 ml bottle from Brendan, thanks man! Consumed 9/23/20, bottled 4/16/20. Mostly clear darker golden color with a thick, frothy off-white head. Belgian yeast flavor, some spice and herbal notes. A little lemon. Really good mouthfeel. Really good overall. 8/4/9/4/17

500 ml. Thanks to tfontana on the trade. Aroma is soft bubblegum, fruit, musty yeast. Flavor is exactly the aroma. Soft spicy yeast in the finish with a crisp texture. Quite good!

Pours a hazy dark straw from a bottle, large white head composed of small bubbles. Sweet timothy hay and light clove aroma, faint lemon, a little muskiness. Similar flavor, turning to more of a grapefruit peel and pith. Somewhat effervescent in the mouth, dry. Very good beer, it's been a while since I've had a decent saison, can everybody cool it with the NEIPAs for a bit? They keep making them and I keep drinking them, but I've been missing the shelves at my local packies having the odd dortmunder, or zwickel, or really nearly anything other than NEIPAs, kettle sours, and the odd craft pale lager.

Pours clear bright gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to coat surface. Sweet hay, citrus and funk aromas. Sharp with funky bubblegum and hay upfront turning to pith and peel in the lasting finish.
