Undated can drunk 6/17/21.
Dark mahogany with some deep garnet highlights. Seems like good clarity. Dark, ashy-beige head shows moderate retention.
Maple candy and milk chocolate in the nose suggest quite a bit of sweetness. Dark/roasted malts/barley are restrained but it seems fairly balanced. A bit of earthiness, light herbal hops at most and clean, minimal yeast character with light raisin, plum and fig on the finish. No alcohol noted.
Sweet, not too much so, with pretty good attenuation and plentiful maple and light roast. I like that it relies on the actual maltiness and maple for flavor rather than copious amounts of burnt/coffee flavor. Kind of like a brown porter of old. Vanilla, caramel, earth and light vegetal flavors linger on the finish with light-to-moderate plum/raisin acidity to balance. Fairly soft, malty texture with moderately engaging, low carbonation. No alcohol or flaw noted.
