Roast and a little coffee. Black pour with mocha head. Light bitter end. Nice easy drinking dark lager. Crisp finish with only a touch of caramel. Can.

16 oz. can. Aroma is pumpernickel bread, raisin, and dried leaves. The malt character is really good. Shows me the dark bread, dark fruit, and earthy hands. My one and only gripe is that it is pretty astringent in the finish. Still drinks well.

Pours black into a stein. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Chocolate, pumpernickel and espresso aromas. Dry with sweet milk chocolate and toasted pumpernickel upfront turning to espresso and soy in the medium length finish.

Canned 11/16/22, drunk 11/27/22. Dark amber-cola, light-tan head quickly fizzles out. Smells lightly roasted with sweet brown sugar and caramel emanating from the mix of specialty and strong base malt. No sour/tannic/overly specialty malt-heavy notes. Clean. Does smell a bit on the sweet side. Raisins and other dark fruits linger on the finish. Maybe a kiss of herbal hops. Not too sweet, and in fact, quite nicely balanced. Very malty with a good brown sugar and chocolate sweetness up front, drying out through the middle with biscuit and roast and ending on lightly bitter roast and light herbal hop bitterness. Seems very much dunkel-like to me, not any American dark lager. Soft, malty, balanced and clean with lingering dryness, dark fruit, cocoa and coffee. Perhaps just a bit sweeter than I'd prefer, as it warms up.
