Can drunk 11/20/22. Dark cola-ebony with a large, tan head showing great retention. Big cocoa, brown sugar, maple and coffee with, importantly, tons of base malt and not overdone on the black malt and unroasted barley. Smells like a good beer, not a guinness. No alcohol or flaw. Soft, malty, not thin or watery. Definitely a stout, not a dry stout. Chewy with caramel, brown sugar, burnt raisins and dark chocolate. Pretty assertive for its size with licorice and roasted bitterness lingering. Great balance with good malt sweetness yet plentiful acidity. Just an all-around solid american stout that you rarely see any more. Also quite impressed with Throwback's canning line; these beers are flawless.

Nitro Tap at Cask and Vine. Solid black color with a huge creamy tan head that persists forever. Aromas of light roast, a lot of caramel and dark fruit, hints of earthy hop. The flavor follows the aroma, light roast lots of caramel sugar and bits of fruit and earthy. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet creamy velvety mouthfeel. Decent brew, I’d love to revisit without the nitro.

Growler from the brewery. Deep brown with huge, full tan head. Lace coats the glass still leaving creamy foam at the bottom. Carbonation is just right. Nose is roasted malt and a touch of chocolate. Taste is a pleasant amount of roasted malt and grain. As the stout warms the roasted grains lingers with a light, mild bitterness. Overall this is a well make traditional, standard stout. I would enjoy this on draft if I ever see it in the area. Nice job from the ladies at Throwback!
