Crowler pour, mostly translucent black/brown with a cap of off white head. Nose is what you want, its malt and toast and a little cola. Flavor follows but more earth tones, carob, malt, toast, light coffee. Licorice is mostly absent. Finishes medium bodied, mostly dry.

Brighton draught, 4/5/23. Clear deep ruby-garnet. Small, dark beige head showing moderate retention. Cocoa-dusted honey with a touch of red fruit. Clean, no alcohol, minimal specialty malt. Bright as can be for the style. Soft, malty, easygoing but also with ample bitterness to balance. Light licorice, honey and toffee. Could actually do a little less roast here, though I know we're trying to approximate a strong stout. Great attenuation drying out significantly in the end.

Pours mahogany-tinged black into a shaker. Mocha head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Milk chocolate and pumpernickel aromas. Dry with sweet milk chocolate, mild smoke and mocha front to back.
