No. 4 was blended from batches brewed during the winter of 2020-2021, each starting in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels. Last December, the contents of those barrels were then transferred to VSOP brandy barrels. That oak was originally brought in for another project but we were struck by the quality and intensity of the barrels - as with the three Votives prior, the blend and barrel treatment weren’t pre-determined but based on inspiration and careful selection. Over 24 months in the making, we’re excited to be sharing where this beer’s journey has brought it.

Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7.5
Armsby draught, 3/3/23. Unclear dark chocolate, tan head on edges. Lovely bourbon and chocolate in the nose. Pepper, light iodine, salinity...big and intense with light alcohol throughout. Soft, sweet, heavily bourbon with light coconut, toasted oak and plentiful pepper. Some dry vanilla, again light alcohol throughout. Wouldn't hate a bit more malt depth here. Doesn't need to be syrupy but it runs light as is, for the abv.
