375 ml bottle thanks to ClarkVV on carrying this home. Aroma is Brett, spice, raisins. Flavor has heavy amounts of Bretta. I still get some barley wine in the form of raisins and spice. A different take on the style.

Bottle pour shared by Clark VV--thanks, Clark! It's a maple syrup brown with nice viscosity, no head or lacing. Aroma is strong Brett, dark fruit, caramel, mild whiskey. Taste is strong Brett with caramel, mellow whiskey/bourbon. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not always a huge Brett fan but more flavor than sour and blends well with the rest.

375mL undated bottle from the brewery, drunk 2/26/23. Strong caramel color with darker cola-mahogany. Dark beige head quickly to ring. Big brett in the nose, very floral. I love some Brett barleywine, but this seems maybe a touch dominant? Honestly, not sure I could identify the base beer below all the brett. Some vague bread and caramel, I guess but certainly no rich barleywine/stout character, or at least very little of it anyways. Don't get much whiskey either. Not boozey, though, nor does it seem sweet. Richer in the mouth than expected with some almost sticky sweet caramel and vanilla. Brett comes off spicy, herbal almost adding a tart undercurrent. Spicy whiskey in there, as well with more lingering caramel and moderate Brett. Thankfully not as much Brett in flavor, but it's still there. I like the idea of a traditional Barleywine which had brett infections, but I'm not sure just pitching brett in to a barrel (I assume that's what was done here) recreates that. I wonder how close this was to Lazarus? Interesting but ultimately not sure the brett works well here. Kind of disjointed and floral.

50cl bottle pours with a mahogany colored body that supports a tiny tan head of foam. The aroma offers up soft sweetened whiskey booze and then boozy raisins and prunes steeped in oak nuanced booze. The taste delivers similar notes of smooth supple whiskey nuanced by raisins and prune stewed booze spiced oak. I notice the carbonation comes across a little prickly as the molasses and smooth sweet malts are noticed. This is a pretty nice sipper but may benefit from less barrel contact as the whiskey and bourbon notes are a little too forward and seem to swamp out the beer notes a bit.

Sampled from the tap at the brewery. Pours a near clear dark brown with a light brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains and caramel with bourbon and a hint of vanilla supporting. Flavor starts with earthy sweet dark grains that are joined by toffee, vanilla and bourbon notes.
