Brewery draught, 1/31/23. Clear, ruddy-amber. Medium sized, white head, moderate retention. Dainty bourbon spice, spiced cherries, liquor filled chocolate cherries. Vanilla. Wow this is quite elegant. Hint of oxidation but it's endearing. No booze. Some white wine and maybe even a bit of pomelo. Rich but nicely aged and attenuated malts. Big citrus backbone; this was very well-hopped. Vanilla, oak, drying out heavily on the finish. Used to like hops in my barleywines but I don't anymore. It distracts and detracts from the texture and malty richness, I think. Still, very respectable here. The heaven hill is nicely understated but richly emerging slowly.
