Ways & Means is a session IPA brewed with rye and just the right amount of Citra and Centennial hops for pleasing bitterness. It boasts complex aromatics of citrus and tropical fruits, finishing with the typical clean, refreshing character for which our beers are known for.

Super hazy amber coloured body with a dense, three centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of bright grassy and herbal hops with a large rye-based malt nose and a lot of alcohol seemingly from the smell, even though 4,5% is printed on the front. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong rye flavours up front with a big hop flavour of grass, herbs and tropical fruits and a subdued yet earthy malt noticeable at the trailing end. Aftertaste is rich, yet light and showing a herbal note as well, but the hops are flavourful as well. Overall, a surprisingly nice balanced and unique beer that shows both a Light IPA quality and some of specialty grains (in this case, rye), while still remaining light and not cloying the slightest. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 17-May-2015 for US$2,24 sampled at home in Washington just hours after returning from one of the premier beer states (Michigan) to realise that Virginia and Washington have nothing on any real beer-making centre.

16oz pint at Brookland Pint pours a hazy orange with some clumpy white head. Nose has orange, grass, pine, mild honey/candy. Flavor has more of everything, sweetness, hops, lemon, orange, nectarine, other stone fruit. Crisp finish. Excellent.

Bottle from Bierkraft. Hazy amber color, small off-white head. Aroma has kiwi and gooseberry bush. Light-bodied. Crisp. Tropical fruity flavor with piney finish. Reminds me about my local Mufloni Pa/Ipa. Easy-going sweetish fruity session beer and my second tick from Virginia.

Alewife, Queens tap: Pours orange with a white head. Aroma is hoppy aroma, focused on the citrus. Not overly strong aroma though. Taste is slightly bitter. Rye malt backbone is definitely present. Well-balanced and easy to drink. Good show from Port City.

Location: Growler from Superstar Beer City, 10/27/14
Aroma: The nose is citrus hops and spice/pepper mostly, with a bit of a grassy undertone
Appearance: Pours a murky orange color with a small ring of white head and some spotty lace
Flavor: The flavor is peppery as well, with a sweet juicy citrus flavor, and a mid-bitter finish
Palate: The body is medium, it has a soft-to-average carbonation, clean feel, and a mid-dry finish
Overall Impression: I actually found this to be a pretty tasty one. There isn't anything crazy going on here, just a simple, easy to drink, clean beer with a nice citrus flavor and a good peppery spice component too.
