Cardiff Mini-break Beer#39. Extremely dark amber-red in colour. Its roasted character is very good in aroma. It's lost somewhat in a too easy carbonated taste, although it remains tasty nevertheless with sweetish notes in a similar respect. A re-rate as I've previously had a cask version.

Draft at the Brighton taproom. Poured almost black in colour with an everlasting frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty, creamy oaty.
The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter and sweet, with a smooth, roasty, dry, spicy liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

On tap at Mad Dog, pours a deep dark brown with a tiny beige head. Nose is pretty much neutral, with very soft oats, not much else. Flavour is a little more impactful, with oats, dry cocoa, and gentle roast. Smooth mouthfeel, almost as though this is nitro'd. Pleasant.

440ml can from Beer Park. Gluten Free. Brown black colour, foamy tan head leaving lacing and aroma of malt, roasty, chocolate, oak, vanilla. Taste is roasty malt, chocolate, cocoa, dried fruity, caramel, oaky, tangy, with earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, roasty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford (not listed in RateBeer) Pours almost black with a small cream head. Nose is mainly milky chocolate. In the mouth the texture is creamy and roast malts are prominent. Also some chocolate and hints of dark fruits. Not much of a finish either. Overall, pleasant enough, but a bit thin.
