O.W.K. was brewed, aged, blended and bottled in honor of our first son. This vanilla bean, barrel-aged Imperial Stout is the culmination of our Stout production and includes threads brewed in 2020 and 2021. Aged exclusively in our favorite Willett Family Estate and Van Winkle barrels, the 2023 release of O.W.K. showcases this singular Stout recipe – brewed three individual times, aged in three unique barrels and integrated with Ugandan vanilla beans at three different stages. This barrel-aged Imperial Stout exemplifies our perception of luxurious decadence with thoughtful elegance.

Rated at The Side Project Cellar. Super balanced, thicc, complex and intense vanilla bean notes, some barrel, bourbon, chocolate sauce, cocoa and oaky notes, hints of warming alcohol. Really tasty and complex slow sipper. Pretty close to perfection when it comes to vanilla stouts.

Bottle pour at the brewery. Black with minimal bubbly head. Dense thick chocolate fudge with loads of vanilla. Bourbon and some wood. Thick and oily. Incredibly dense. Velvety and smooth. No alcohol whatsoever, seems almost balanced. Crazy good.

4oz bottle pour at The Cellar, 9/28/23. Inky, not still, however, with burnt sienna bubbles on the very edges. The nose is a study in vanilla. Bright, juicy, spicy, rich, deep. Just killer. Spicy bourbon, dainty and elegant. Hint of black licorice, warm chocolate fondue and yet...more vanilla. No alcohol whatsoever. A flare of char kicks it off before liquor-like vanilla with heavy spice and floral notes interjects. Sumptuous malts soften the deal with well-attenuated fudgey notes. All the while spicy, elegant bourbon washes forth upon the palate. No booze, not excessively sweet. It's about as good as it gets for vanilla. But personally I'm more interested in the malt and barrel of M.J.K. But it comes down to preference. Both truly are the best in the world.
