Half liter at the brewery - hazy orange with substantial, lasting head - deeply smoky nose - creamy texture - very dry, bordering on too much so, as there is not enough malt flavor to completely balance the assertive smoke - some light crusty bread pokes through, but not much - moderate bitterness late and lingering smoke - I love smoked lagers, but I need more to smooth and balance out the smoke.

4 oz draft at Schilling’s Lager Fest. Flavor is not aggressively smoked. Taste like mild wood chips, and Band-Aids. Decent for 4.4%

Schilling draught, 3/16/24. Bright maize-peach-honey. Small, white head, slowly to cover. Peachy wood with dainty hop and light honey-like character from malt. Light smoke, bright fruitiness. Not as lager-ish but maybe the smoke detracts. Band aid smoke and I swear I get peach from the wood. Light iodine leading to biscuit and dry but fairly ample malt. Carbonation is off, being loose and watery. Funky, strange, intriguing. Could definitely do a bit more maltiness in texture, even if it is just 4.4%
