For TWCP falls in line with our other "For" beers - a beer blended exclusively for a friend for their anniversary. When first brewed, this was the first time we had used almonds in a beer. The flavor of almonds is very hard to extract while using only natural ingredients (no extracts were used in this beer, only real, slivered almonds), so we experimented with "overdosing" the initial beer with almonds and Ghanan Cocoa Nibs and then allowed it to rest in the barrel to soften and develop. After aging, we assessed whether or not it would need to be back-blended; however, we loved the profile that had evolved and then finished the final beer on a heavy dose of Tahitian Vanilla Beans to pull it all together. This eight-malt beer rested in Blanton's Bourbon barrels for 20 months before blending and bottling and determining it was ready to share with you.

Rated at The Side Project Cellar. Smooth, intense with vanilla notes, some cocoa, hints of almonds, bourbon and syrup, some chocolate sauce. A bit heavy but tasty

Bottle, 375 ml, at Side Project Cellar. Black with beige head. Chocolate beauty, not overly sweet, bourbon and vanilla, dense and thick. Loads of chocolate. Full bodied.

375mL bottle at Cellar, 2/17/24. Inky, dark, maroon edges, no head. Roast-accented spicy bourbon with hints of vanilla and choco-caramel. Is there a bit of alcohol here? Yeah, mixed with the bourbon liquor but still just a bit more apparent then most of their beers. Vanilla is big and strong, but well done with soft, floral suggestions. Milk chocolate, spicy bourbon. Alcohol seems to be just now departing. Malty, pretty dry, very spicy but some of it coming from the booze which I don't love.

Bottle massive thanks to BillyT. It pours oily brown - black with a small tan head. The aroma is sweet, intoxicating, vanilla, toasted almond, roasted malt, milky, creamy, gateaux, vanilla cake frosting, charred toast, toasted marshmallow, jammy and rocky road. The taste is slick, oily, bitter - sweet, chewy, toothy, chewy, rich roasted malt, coffee grounds, slick, coffee cake, vanilla, fudge, warming alcohol, toasted almond, biscotti, brownies, ash and charred with a drying, roasty finish. Fulsome body, fine, prickly carbonation. Fun stuff.
