For LC is a Double Barrel-aged Imperial Stout with Mexican Vanilla Beans, Cocoa Nibs, Cinnamon Sticks and Ancho Chilis. Following a 30 to 42-month aging period in Blanton's and Weller 12 barrels, we combined and further aged the blend on the adjuncts. Striving for a multi-dimensional experience, we returned the blend to barrels post-adjunct addition, a first for us. For this second aging phase, we selected Willett Rye and Artifact Honey Bourbon Barrels to complement the adjuncts and evoke flavors reminiscent of Derivation Blend 6. After a final 7-month rest in these barrels, we added a touch more vanilla to perfect the blend.

Quite a lot of pastry notes on the nose but not so much in the taste. Notes of vanilla, spices, chocolate and dry roastiness in the finish. Some chocolate sauce, bourbon and cinnamon, hints of cocoa and rye. Pretty complex and balanced for a pastry stout

Boozy, good barrel, cinnamon, chocolate, a bit of chili warmth, vanilla in the finish. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours black with small tan head. The aroma is intense cinnamon, granola, cocoa, roast, wood, chilis, bourbon. Thick, chewy roast, cinnamon on top of cinnamon, dark chocolate, granola, boozy, nice chili in the finish, enjoyed this.

Cellar draught, 2/13/24. Dark, viscous, burgundy edges, no head. Rich, rich, soft vanilla, bit of wood and spice on the finish. Definite mellow spice on the end, way better than raw. Spice, perfume, floral notes, more rich vanilla, light milk chocolate. No booze, of course. Juicy, spicy, floral, rich, herbal and cinnamon, though cinnamon doesn't do it justice. The cinnamon is really interesting and uniquely done, creating much less intensity especially for a newly-released beer. Vanilla is soft and rich. Spicy bourbon, light drying wood tannin, with vanilla lingering. Fruity? Spicy-perfumey-potpourri without the astringency. This series never disappoints. Once the bitterness from the cinnamon and vanilla calms down this is going to be unreal.
