Our interpretation of an Extra Special Bitter carries light bitterness and a gentle earthy noble hop character from Fuggles hops. The hops are balanced by an airy fruitiness and a rich base of flavors evoking caramel malts, brown sugar, and hazelnut. Now aged in French Oak! It is a wonderful and simple beer we find best paired with fish and chips, smoked meat, roasted chicken or, ideally, a day on the river.

Pours a dark amber, with smallish head. Aroma is nutty, with malt, bread, some oak. Flavors largely follow, some caramel. Clean, crisp mouthfeel.

Lukr pour at Charlton, 12/15/23. Clear amber with a large, well-retained, beige head atop. Bread, toast, mineral. Light, fruity esters. Don't get oak but the beer is certainly mellow. Clean, malty, with toffee and vanilla. Soft, dry, malty, oaky. Toasted malts with light red fruit. Dry and drinkable. Not too toasty, not too malty. Oaky in the flavor. Could use a bit more comforting, deep base malt to round it out.
