King Fern is a Double IPA as robust as its namesake. Poured vigorously, a cloud of white rises above the glass carrying the amplified hop notes explored in our Fern series. Citra swirls with Peacharine, bringing forth character of orange zest and floral summer peach. Following behind, Motueka brings notes of ripe passionfruit and lime to this special blend. Finally, the aptly named Paradisi—the newest addition in our hop library—melds soft, creamy notes of vanilla and grapefruit. King Fern proudly reigns, setting a new standard amongst its peers.

16 oz can. In a trade with craftyhalfpint. Thanks Linda. Aroma shows me bold herb on top of soft grapefruit. For the flavor is has a soft bready malt backbone with light mango / grapefruit mixture. The herb notes are strong throughout. Soft danky bitterness. Good.

Charlton draught, 12/15/24. Milky, turbid. Rounded juice and spice with mild grapefruit zest, and big cantaloupe and papaya interludes. Clean, malty, not sweet or boozey, no resin. Very nicely expressed stuff with nothing jumping out at you. Lingering heavy tropical fruits. Malty, juicy, rich, moderately sweet with light circus peanut. Light, light bitterness and trailing spice but nowhere near what I expected or hoped for. Still, the tropical fruit and malt interplay is fantastic. And the texture is supple and satisfying.

Pours a hazy, soft banana smoothie yellow, with mid-sized cap of lasting head. Aroma is very dank, with some green onion/used oil-gas mixture upfront, along with bright citrus and tropical fruits. Flavors follow, with a light underlying sweetness. Soft, soft mouthfeel. Moderate hop bitterness through the finish. Very, very good.
