Old Hat is our American Amber Lager. Brewed with a complex assortment of malts to impart a rich base and hopped gently with Cascade hops, it is a modern and bright expression of this widely admired style.
Following primary fermentation with our American lager yeast, we allow Old Hat to condition for almost eight weeks in horizontal stainless to brilliant clarity.
Pouring a deep amber color in the glass, it carries caramel-like malt notes with hints of honey and biscuit offset by a gentle citrusy hop character. It's a marvelous little beer that brings us great joy to make.

Charlton side pour, 11/26/24. Clear medium-light amber. Small, semi-creamy, light beige head. Slight red fruitiness and caramel with crusty bread giving a good amber lager impression. Clean, low hops, but notable yeast with a crisp finish. Not too much toast. Malty, richer than expected with vanilla, toffee, crusty, fresh bread and a smattering of herbal hops which lighten and balance the mood. Excellent depth and attenuation without too much toast, fruit or caramel, yet just enough to define the style. Clean, balanced, flavorful.

Pours a clear, dark amber, almost a brown color, with smallish head. Aroma is grass/straw, some bread, a touch of hops. Flavor is a bit sweetish, with bread, grass, some mild hops, some maltiness. Crisp mouthfeel.
