William Quartermaine was one of the original owners of the Wimbledon Brewery . Quartermaine is a great example of an English style IPA, using the very best raw materials which are given free rein to express themselves.

The fruity, spicy, floral hop aromas lead to a full, rich, almost light fruit cake middle palate, ending with a clean dry bitter finish.

Cask at the London & County JDW, Eastbourne. Poured a clear golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is light citrus, aromatic. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a smooth, fresh, dry, herbal, light aromatic, light woody hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

(Cask at Cock Tavern, Hackney, London, 30 May 2025) Golden colour with brief, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of peaches, apricots, grass and resin. Fruity, hoppy taste with citrus, apricots, peaches, grass, resin and a balanced citric/grassy bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Refreshing and hoppy. Nice one.

Old notes from Sep 2018 - A bottle I got somewhere in London, poured at home in Jersey. It's dark amber with a white head. Aromas & tastes of fruits, flora & malt. Light to medium body. Medium to high carbonation. Bitter finish. More a lager than a IPA. Passable

Hal-pint, cask at Fox & Anchor. Upper part lacing from a covering pearl white head. Next-to-clear amber coloured body. Moderate aromas of mid-sweet malts and herbal hops. Quite well blended taste profile of mild caramel malts, bread, and ripe fruits. Mid-dry bittersweet finish. Medium bodied. Fine partner to my English breakfast. (London, 28.09.2023).
