Kaffee Bergsteiger is our Schwarzbier conditioned atop our House-roasted Autumn blend of coffee, Walden.
Pouring a clean chocolatey color into the glass, it carries notes of fresh coffee, bread crust, nuttiness, and mild caramel sweetness balanced by familiar and ever-present chocolate and caramel-forward coffee flavor.
Bergsteiger is an ideal beer for cooler weather and a companion to adventure. Enjoy it in good spirits and in good company!

Aroma is coffee, chocolate malt, light nutty factor. Taste follows with balanced smooth light bitterness in the finish. Quite nice.

Can from the brewery in Tewksbury. Opaque dark brown, light sparkle, thin, creamy head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is strong bittersweet coffee, roasted malt, toffee, brown bread, caramel, dark chocolate. Taste is strong coffee, brown bread, toffee, caramel, chocolate. Smooth texture, medium bodied, soft carbonation, mostly bitter finish as taste. The addition of the coffee is nice without obscuring much of base. Nice.

16 oz can. Aroma shows me nutty coffee, and light char. Flavor is pretty simple and straightforward. Moderate coffee, light char, mild chocolate. Medium body with a soft char finish. Not all the fanboys like this one. But I kind of do.

Charlton draught, 11/11/24. Clear, maroon-black. Coffee-tan head, big and slow to recede. Whew that's quite a bit of coffee...bit dark and ashy. Some dark malt breaks through, as well. Good minerality and clean. Fruity, roasty, very nutty. No ash or stale bitterness, thankfully. Lighter body, nitro-induced, of course. Lots of nuts, vegetal notes, dark chocolate, but I can't get at the yeast or even the malt as much as I'd like on account of the coffee, which feels redundant, ultimately.

Part of crisp mix pack which I am loving. Dark brown black pour and foamy head. Nose is chocolate and burnt toast. Tastes of mild chocolate, coffee, char, earthy, some vanilla and bread crust. Smooth palate.

Pours a brown-black, with mid-sized tan head. Aroma is coffee, roasted grain, some malt. Flavor is roasted grain, nuts, not a huge amount of coffee (I basically tried this and the regular Bergsteiger side-by-side and couldn't really tell the difference). Smooth mouthfeel.
